Tail will be wagging at a bank holiday dog festival returns to Hatfield Heath in May.

Down Hall Hotel, Spa & Estate will host the return of the the Pop + Bark Dog Festival, on Monday, May 27.

A programme of breed-specific activities has been curated for guests and their furry companions for attendees of all ages to enjoy.

The hotel, which has gardens comprising 110 acres of grounds, is in the heart of the Essex countryside and is expected to draw dog owners and festival goers from across the county.

The event will be divided into specific time slots for different breeds, starting with Golden Retrievers from 11am to 1pm, followed by Labradors from 1.15pm to 3.15pm, and finally, Cockapoo & Cavapoos from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.

Among the highlights are three food stations serving dishes crafted by the hotel's executive chef Robert Pearce, including BBQ beef patties, a seafood and chicken Spanish paella, and authentic Italian stone-baked pizzas.

Canine guests can enjoy treats from Rudi's The Doggy Bakery featuring all-natural, bespoke snacks, while dog-friendly offerings from the Pupuccino Bar have also been added to the menu.

The dedicated dog play zone on the premises will be filled with toys, a ball launcher, splash pool and other games.

Activities for children will include face painting, treasure hunts, and an ice cream cart.

Festival visitors can discover Tesla electric vehicle's 'Dog Mode' and enter for a chance to win a Tesla lease, a stay at Down Hall Hotel, or shopping vouchers worth £100.

Entry prices start from £16.75 for adults and £9.75 for ages 16 and under.

Food and drink items will be charged separately, and £2 from every booking will be given to UK charity Guide Dogs.

Those wanting to make a weekend of it can do so at a discounted rate, with a newly refurbished, dog-friendly room starting from £200 bed and breakfast, with dogs staying free on mentioning your Pop & Bark tickets when booking.

Dog lovers who do not have the company of their furry friend are also welcome to visit.
