Felsted School has successfully met all requirements in the latest Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspection, receiving high praise for its "balanced curriculum", "effective teaching", and "successful support" for pupil wellbeing.

The inspection was completed in December 2023, with the Essex-based co-educational boarding and day school being one of the first schools to be visited under ISI's new inspection framework introduced in September 2023.

Felsted was commended for the quality of its education, training and recreational aspects and the contribution its pupils make to society.

The inspection highlighted the school's emphasis on an effective pastoral care system and a respectful school culture contributing to supporting pupils' physical, mental health, and emotional wellbeing.

Chris Townsend, Felsted head, said: "The updated inspection format better reflects the nuanced nature of education provision than the single-word assessment of the past, and I am pleased that the ISI inspectors have given an accurate report of our approach to providing a broad, high-quality education.

"I am very proud of the entire school community, which works together to create such a happy and successful learning environment for pupils at Felsted."
