Members of the public are invited to have their say on plans for up to 100 new homes as well as early years and childcare provision in Takeley.

Bellway plans to develop the homes - 40 per cent of which will be designated as affordable - on land to the west of Station Road.

The proposed development will create new green spaces and enhance existing ones, with an aim to increase biodiversity by at least 10 per cent.

They will also create new and improved cycling routes to improve connectivity through and around the site.

To address a shortage of early years and childcare provision in Uttlesford, the proposal will create a new early years and childcare centre with 56 places for children.

As well as allowing children to remain in the area for their early years education, the centre will provide additional employment opportunities.

A Bellway Homes spokesperson said: "We are delighted to be consulting on our plans for Takeley.

"Our proposals will see significant investment into Takeley and the surrounding area.

"This proposed development could deliver up to 100 high-quality new homes, of which 40 per cent will be classified as affordable to help local residents stay in the area they call home.

"The development will also incorporate high standards for sustainable development, all Bellway Homes are built to the highest standards and this scheme will be no different."

There has previously been backlash over what residents view as "disproportionate" housing allocations for Takeley and Great Dunmow in Uttlesford District Council's draft Local Plan, which was publicised in October.

Residents will be able to have their say on the proposals at a public engagement event from 4pm to 7pm on Friday, March 15 at Takeley Football Club.
