A musician who plays two guitars at once, Rodney Branigan with music from Texas and Nashville, will be at Joanna’s Place in Saffron Walden on Saturday, March 2.
The musical, 9 to 5 will be at Saffron Walden Town Hall from March 5-9, presented by Saffron Walden Musical Theatre Company.
The show, based on the 1980 film of the same name, has music and lyrics by the queen of country music, Dolly Parton.
Set in the late 1970s, the show tells the story of Doralee, Violet and Judy, three workmates who are pushed to boiling point by their sexist and egotistical boss.
Concocting a plan to kidnap and turn the tables on their despicable supervisor, will the women manage to reform their office or will events unravel when the CEO pays an unexpected visit?
The musical premiered in Los Angeles in September 2008, and opened on Broadway in April 2009. It received 15 Drama Desk Award nominations, the most received by a production in a single year, as well as four Tony Awards nominations.
Saffron Walden Musical Theatre Company has won awards for its previous, annual productions from NODA (The National Operatic and Dramatic Association).
