A BBC Radio 3 concert at Saffron Hall with a former BBC Young Musician of the Year is free to everyone and all three events in the series are free for under 18s.

Three concerts at Saffron Hall with a former BBC Young Musician of the Year are free to under 18s and one in the series is free to everyone.

The BBC Radio 3 Big Chamber Weekend, April 26-27 includes three events with music including, Schumann and Brahms, Bernstein and Gershwin. They feature composer and virtuoso clarinettist Mark Simpson, now established as a major artist.

For the first concert he is joined by cellist Leonard Elschenbroich and pianist Richard Uttley for a programme including Beethoven’s Piano Trio Op. 11 and music by Janáček, Schumann and Kurtág.

The Navarra Quartet and violist Adam Newman join them for a free early-evening concert on the Saturday. playing music by Ireland, Maxwell Davies and Howells.

Saturday night includes Gershwin, Bernstein and Copland.

The early-evening concert on Saturday is free to all and all three concerts are free for under 18s.
