Music from Purcell to The Beatles will be part of A Choral Kaleidoscope presented by the Cantate senior choir at St John’s Church, Stansted on Sunday, March 24.

Music from Purcell to The Beatles will be part of A Choral Kaleidoscope presented by the Cantate senior choir at St John’s Church, Stansted on Sunday, March 24.

With pianist Charlie Penn, the programme will include songs song by Billy Joel and a collection a selection of spirituals including arrangements of Swing Low, Sweet Chariot, Steal Away, Deep River, and Roll, Jordan Roll.

Cantate is one of the most highly rated open-access choirs in the UK, based in Bishop’s Stortford with different sections. It is a previous Sainsbury’s Children’s Choir of the Year, and in 2014 returned from the World Choir Games in Latvia as double gold medalists and the highest place European mixed-voice youth choir in the competition, an extraordinary achievement when fewer than 10 per cent. have any formal vocal tuition outside the choir.
