A fire in a derelict bungalow in Little Dunmow could have been set off deliberately the fire service has said - after Uttlesford District Council was criticised for leaving derelict buildings as a target for vandals.
More than 3,000 people celebrated the switch on of the Christmas lights in Great Dunmow on Saturday, launching the town into the festive spirit with a day of entertainment and activities.
The Great Dunmow Carnival committee have thanked the town's residents after £1,500 raised from the event's bucket collection was donated to three charities.

A Dunmow primary school could be set to expand in order to accommodate 60 extra pupils over the next two years, "to help meet an immediate need for school places in the area".
Ticket machines in council-run car parks across Uttlesford are becoming "costly and unreliable" and the authority is now looking at introducing updated models.
