A BUDDING young artist from Dunmow is donating one of his paintings to Comic Relief - and you could own it!

Nine-year-old Harry Price created ‘The Penguin’, pictured, especially for Red Nose Day. The watercolour can be seen hanging in the Saracen’s Head in Dunmow’s High Street.

The youngster is hoping for a successful silent auction so he can donate a good sum of money to the charity that helps children throughout the world.

“I want to give money to children who do not have anything,” said Harry. “This is the first painting I have given away so I am hoping it does well because I would like to do it again.

“We decided to paint a penguin because it has nothing to do with Red Nose Day.

“Instead, we would want to hang on their wall or put on their mantelpiece.”

His teacher, Linda Series, who will be exhibiting her own work at Dunmow’s Aubrey Art gallery in June, has been giving Harry lessons for just over a year and is proud of her pupil.

“We are both really pleased with the painting and, hopefully, we can raise lots of money for charity,” she said.

“We use watercolours, even though they are one of the hardest mediums to use, because the final product is beautiful and I think that is evident with Harry’s painting.”

If anybody would like to own Harry’s painting then they can put their contact details and the amount they would like to bid in an envelope addressed to The Broadcast and leave it behind the bar in the Saracen’s Head.

Alternatively contact Michael Edwards on 01799 512883, 07501842135 or e-mail michael.edwards@archant.co.uk

The winner will be announced in The Broadcast before Red Nose Day on March 18.
