The Woman in Black is coming back to the Cambridge Arts Theatre for one week (September 26 - October 1). Based on Susan Hill’s novel, it is a story within a story – a horror about a lawyer who believes he has been cursed by a ghost and hires a young actor to help him tell the tale.

As they get into the story however, fiction and reality become indistinguishable, and The Daily Telegraph has called it a “brilliantly effective spine-chiller” .

The Guardian called it “a masterpiece” and The Observer said “the audience were jumping out of their seats.”

More than seven million people have seen the show worldwide and it is one of the most successful theatre events ever staged.

In 2012 a Woman in Black film was released, starring Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe, which became the highest grossing British film in 20 years.

A sequel, Woman in Black: Angel of Death was released two years later, in 2014.

It is directed by Robin Herford, and stars Downton Abbey and EastEnders actor David Acton who will play the main role of Mr Kipps.

From 7.45pm each night, tickets are £18, £23, £28, or £33 depending on the show and seat – plus a £3 booking fee – from 01223 503333 or www.cambridgeartstheatre.com.

There is also an audio-prescibed performance on October 1.
