European water skiing champion David Sewell took on the world's best last week in New Zealand in the World Championships and came away with fourth place.

The 29-year-old from Dunmow was dogged by engine problems in the competition won by Australian Chris Stout.

"I was unlucky with engine and boat problems and disappointed with fourth, but there's another in two years time so we will work towards that," said Sewell.

"If the boat had ran right I think we would have got second or third, but we beat all the Europeans by a lot so I'm pleased with that.
