Takeley caretaker boss Alex Martin has seen his team bounce back with a 2-0 and a 5-0 victory following the heavy derby defeat to Stansted.

The 32-year-old’s side had two sent-off as they were thumped 5-0 by the Airportmen at the start of the month.

However, a Mike Ogboin hat-trick, along with singles from Jordan Westcott and Paul Tiffen, saw off Burnham Ramblers on Tuesday night, while Ogboin and Westcott also netted in the win over Newham on Saturday.

Martin said: “I have slighty changed the system and have gone back to a flat-back four as we were exposed down the sides against Stansted.

“We have played three up front with our striker Mike playing down the centre as a target man.

“He’s a big, strong boy and has got four goals in the last two games and has got some of his confidence back.”

Martin, who has been in interim charge for five games since the departure of Duncan Easley at the start of 2016, has now also appointed Andy Pearce as his assistant.

Of his time in charge so far, he added: “It’s good, it’s been a totally different attitude since we’ve been in charge, I’m not counting the Stansted game as that was a one-off, we have been good with a lot of positives.

“We have eight points from five games and if we get the 22 points I targeted in 16 games then I’ll be happy and I think the club will be too.”

Next up for Takeley is an away trip to face Sporting Bengal United.

“We have acouple of suspensions, but we’ll still be going there looking for the three points, nothing is going to change.

“We are keeping the same ethic of hunting the ball down and trying to play. If you do that in this league you will create chances.”
