The newly formed Dunmow Triathlon Club got off to an exceptional start on Sunday when 11 members entered the Braintree Sprint Triathlon.

The triathlon, which took place at the Riverside Sports Centre, Braintree, included a 400m swim in the indoor pool, followed by a 21k bike and a 5k run.

Darren Thomas came second in his age group (40-44) and 17th overall out off 183 competitors. Russell Goodliff also came second (20-24) with Adam French (20-24) and Lindsay Hellier (30-35), both gaining third places.

Matt Prier, Graham Milligan, Mel Hynes, Andy Chambers and Isabel Ross-Edwards all had personal bests.

Phil Elms (40-44), took part in the Blenheim triathlon, completing it in a commendable 1hr 36min.
