Maldon Town Saints U-10 0 Dunmow Rhodes Tigers 16

Dunmow Rhodes Tigers roared their way to the top of the Blackwater League in emphatic style at Maldon's Promenade Park on Sunday.

The Tigers were simply invincible, on a day when they laid the gauntlet down to all opposition in North Essex, with all of the boys playing outstanding football.

Tigers' skipper Orpen opened the scoring after five minutes, with a great left-foot strike from outside the area and within a minute Rhodes were two up, when striker Crook opened his account.

Wingback Watson then added the third, before Crook secured his second after 15 minutes, only to have Orpen pass the striker again immediately thereafter, for his hat-trick, before the end of the half.

The captain secured his second after 19 minutes, before Dicker completed the first-half punishment, leaving the home side trailing by seven goals at the break.

Dunmow opened the second half where they had left off the first, with Crook securing his fourth within two minutes of the restart followed by Dicker's brace.

Then the floodgates opened, with Baxter scoring Rhodes' 10th, 11th and 12th within six minutes.

Josh Deans then secured his hat-trick in the following seven minutes.

Crook completed the rout with his fifth and the Tiger's 16th on the stroke of full time.

Tollesbury Juniors U-9 0 Dunmow Rhodes Lions 6

Dunmow Rhodes hit a battling Tollesbury side for six at the weekend.

Dunmow took the lead when Thompson's corner in the 10th minute was met by Carey who headed home.

Just before the break Carey's inswinging corner was parried by the keeper into the path of Thompson who drove the ball home.

Dunmow came out strongly in the second half and in the 27th minute another Carey corner was converted by Thompson.

Rhodes' fourth came three minutes later, Carey striking the ball low into the back of the net.

Five minutes later, he claimed his hat-trick, skillfully beating two defenders and calmly slotting the ball past the keeper.

Thompson then stabbed home his hat-trick to round off the victory.

Ravens Youth U-7 1 Dunmow Rhodes Tigers 6

Rhodes Tigers roared to victory against Ravens on Sunday.

Rhodes stunned their opponents with a blistering start to the game and after 30 seconds Bowen's pass found Brown who finished coolly.

Three minutes later a Barry cross presented Brown with a chance for his second, which he rifled home.

The hosts responded on 10 minutes with a well-taken goal to reduce the deficit, but good defending saw Dunmow go in ahead at the break.

The second half saw Tigers dominate and Brown completed his hat-trick on 25 minutes with a low shot in the corner.

On the half-hour mark Kitchen set up Johnson to open his account and he doubled his tally in two minutes. Kitchen deservedly got on the scoresheet with a couple of minutes left with a well-taken shot for number six.

Baddow Spartak Tigers U-11 2 Dunmow Rhodes Tigers 3

Another end-to-end encounter saw the visitors edge this cup game by the odd goal.

With five minutes gone Rhodes took the lead, Maybanks fed Orpen on the right who drove on and unleashed an unstoppable screamer.

A terrific run into the box created the Spartak equaliser with Dunmow guilty of standing off their opponents however, after 21 minutes a Burgess lay off was picked up on the right by Orpen and his shot was parried by the keeper with Johnson reacting quickest to stab the ball home.

A minute before half-time Baddow made it 2-2 when an unopposed run down the right was finished by a neat chip over Gallop in goal.

Rhodes battled hard in the second half and with five minutes to go Cooper beat his man on the left and slid in Burgess who rifled the ball into the roof of the net for the winner.

Dunmow Rhodes Lions U-14 3 Maldon Saints 0

Dunmow Lions continued their unbeaten league form defeating a strong Maldon Saints side 3-0.

In a fiercely competitive first half Rhodes took the lead before the break with a neat header from Zach Field after an excellent cross from Sean Walsh.

The second half continued in the same vain but following some superb interpassing further goals were scored by Field and Joe Turner.

Maldon hit the cross bar late on in the second half from a long range shot but resolute defending by Rhodes saw them run out comfortable winners and stay top of the division.

Dunmow Rhodes Tigers U-8 3

Dunmow United 0

Dunmow Rhodes Tigers continued their impressive early-season form with an entertaining derby day victory against rivals United.

Rhodes went in front after only five minutes, the first courtesy of Sammy Williamson and doubled the lead before half-time with a strike from Alexander Scott-Bell.

A Williamson second and Tigers third completed an excellent all round team performance in the second half.

Hundon Hawks U-9 4 Aztecs Junior 6

Toby Goodship scored a hat-trick as Aztecs ran out winners in keenly contested encounter at Hundon.

Both teams started brightly and it was Callum Izzard who opened the scoring for Aztecs following good work from Alistair Green on the left. Hundon soon equalised before Goodship slotted home for the visitors just before the break.

The second period saw the home side applying some good pressure and they were deservedly rewarded with two quick goals to take a 3-2 lead.

Aztecs' attacking play saw the move of the game when William Savill found Tommy Smith on the right who cleverly laid the ball off to Sam Goodwin and he finished well past the goalkeeper.

The game swung from end to end in the final period and the home side went ahead with a fierce dipping shot from the edge of the area.

The visitors' heads didn't drop and Tyler Thurgood soon found an excellent position to score an equaliser from close range.

With time running out, Goodship struck his second and third of the match to seal the win for Aztecs.

Flitch Youth U-9 11 Maldon Saints Tigers 2

After narrowly beating Saints last week, it was Flitch's turn to host Maldon and this time it was one sided, with Flitch running rampant.

Tommy Bull opened the scoring with a shot from the edge of the box, and quickly doubled his tally via a close range header.

A Saints defender turned in another Bull shot, before Jordan Turner rifled in a shot from the edge of the box to make it 4-0.

Cory Frost then netted, before the visitors scored, to make it 5-1 at half-time.

In the second half, Bull and Frost added to their tallies further, each ending the match with four goals apiece, whilst solid defending from Flitch, particularly Josh Callaghan, ensured that the visitors were restricted to just one more goal.

A Jamie Dicker solo effort ended the rout just before the final whistle.

Flitch U-11 1 Witham 2

A hard-fought game against Witham ended in a narrow defeat for Flitch on Sunday.

While enjoying a good spell of possession Flitch almost went ahead through Cameron Elder, but his shot went narrowly wide and the half ended goal-less.

Midway through the second, Flitch fell behind to an unfortunate own goal, and Witham soon doubled the advantage with a neatly taken second goal.

A late strike by Connor Gray gave Flitch some hope, but they ran out of time and Witham took the victory.

Dunmow United Tigers U-9 3 Torquespeed Hurricanes 0

Dunmow United blew Torquespeed Hurricanes away at the weekend.

From the start United looked to be very much in command, but it took until midway through the first half for United to deservedly take the lead with Connor Capon netting his first of the season.

Further chances to increase the lead were not taken before the interval mainly due to the visitors excellent keeper.

The second half started just as brightly for United and good work from Suleyman and Cockrell led to Monk lifting the ball over the keeper and into the net.

Some more excellent saves from the Hurricanes keeper kept the score respectable until a United short corner saw Lander cut inside and blast an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

Barnston U-10 1 Hutton 1

Barnston held a free scoring Hutton side to a draw in the league.

Both teams started brightly creating chances at both ends, but as the half wore on only some brave keeping by Barnston's Calum Fraser kept Hutton at bay.

Gradually Hutton's strength and size began to tell, as they pushed Barnston back and it was from a set pieces 10 minutes from the end that Hutton struck with a powerful shot smashing through the Blues defensive line.

Moments later Hutton broke through again, but Charles Dodd cleared off the line.

With less than a minute Barnston rescued a point when Adam Griggs won the ball on the right, jinked inside and crossed the ball perfectly for Dan Muir to shoot first time, low past the Hutton keeper.

Spartak Blacks U-12 3 Huntingdon Rowdies 4

Spartak slipped to a narrow defeat against Huntingdon Rowdies at the weekend.

The home side got off to a disastrous start, conceding a soft goal in the first minute. The visitors, spurred on by the goal pressurised further and notched a second on 12 minutes.

When they scored a third on 28 minutes it looked like a dismal day ahead for the Blacks. However, a tactical change allowed paid off with Swerdlow beating two players and squeezing his shot past the keeper to give Spartak hope.

When Scott Groom added a second within a minute, the Blacks had reduced a three-goal deficit to one goal going into half-time and there was all to play for.

After the break the Blacks continued to play with renewed vigour, but the Rowdies scored an unstoppable goal on 34 minutes.

However, four minutes later, Robert Chappell's throw high into the Rowdies area fell to Groom whose low shot crept inside the far post.

Both sides shared possession equally for the remainder of the game and had further chances to score, with Ryan Brown making some excellent saves for the Blacks.

Spartak 78 Reds U-12 8 Waterbeach Colts 1

Spartak dominated this game with an excellent team performance with six different players scoring.

Duck gave Spartak the lead with a great shot from the edge of the box and Procter soon lobbed the keeper to double their advantage.

Waterbeach pushed forward with their striker, Harry Cotton beating the advancing George Pooley before half-time.

The second half saw Spartak resume their attacking football and within a minute Duck volleyed into the net and then Duck's cross was met by Ritchie who extended Spartak's lead.

Hutchinson fired in a brace with two great strikes with Kenyon and then Low finding the net to round off the victory.

Spartak U-13 0 Saffron Walden Town A 4

The young Bloods took the spoils in the local derby against a spirited Spartak side in the first premier league meeting between the Town's top two teams.

The opening exchanges were evenly contested but it was Walden who proved to have the cutting edge in the shape of top-scorer David Anthony who scored twice before the break.

The second half saw a further two goals from Anthony as Walden's skillful attacking football eventually proved too much for Spartak on the day, but credit to the home team for their efforts to the final whistle.

Cherry Hinton U-14 0 Spartak 78 4

Spartak played some entertaining football to record a good away win at Cherry Hinton.

The hosts came close in the opening exchanges, but were kept out by the alert goal keeping of Calum Payne and some solid defensive play from Calum Shaw.

The game turned after Tim Wade slotted home Spartak's first goal towards the end of the first half. The away side gained in confidence and Sam Mitchell scored with an excellent individual effort at the start of the second period.

Mitchell added another shortly after and Tom Dexter finished a slick passing move to complete the victory.

Spartak gained their first win of the season with an excellent all- round performance against league leaders Mildenhall.

Town started well, but strong defensive clearances from Bradley Plumb, Dan Mills and James Wells kept the Mildenhall attackers at bay and limited them to a few long range shots and a reflex save from keeper Henry Wells.

The visitors took the lead when, from a long clearance forward, Jack Baker scored the opening goal.

In the second half Mildenhall started strongly but a long-range shot from Matthew Morgan deceived the visitors' keeper to double the lead.

A fine inswinging corner from Jordan Parish was then headed into the net by a Mildenhall Town defender.

The visitors did find the net with 15 minutes to go, but Spartak maintained their composure and put the result beyond doubt with another strike from Jack Baker.

Thaxted Rangers Yellows U-9 7 Heybridge Youth Tigers 1

A beautiful morning greeted another super team display by Thaxted Rangers.

Goals by William Lawrence, Matt Pike, Charlie Kinnerley and a fabulous defensive show by Tommy Croft, Declan Ireland and Michael Francis gave the home side a 3-0 lead at the break.

Rangers started the second half in fine form. Charlie Kinnerley made it 4-0 scoring from a corner and some excellent teamwork gave Matt Pike and William Lawrence their second goals.

Splendid team movement allowed Graydon Thorpe to make it 7-0 to the home side before the Tigers scored a late consolation.

A battling performance from Thaxted saw them secure a draw at Great Notley.

From the start it was clear that these were two well matched sides, but it was Notley that broke through first, taking the lead with a screaming shot that the Thaxted keeper could do nothing about.

After the break Thaxted looked rejuvenated and Adam Braden got the goal he deserved to bring the Blues level.

It was all about the goalkeepers for the rest of the match with Thaxted's Evan Sunshine tipping the ball over the bar in what had to be the save of the match in the closing stages.

Thaxted Rangers U-11 4 Tiptree Minors 2

Four goals from Tom Burke, Thaxted's man-of-the-match, gave the home side the best of starts in this year's League Cup.

The game started with Thaxted pushing forward and they were soon two up.

The second half started with a goal but it was from the visitors and for a few minutes they looked right back in the game, but soon after Tom completed his hat-trick to restore the two goal cushion.

Although Tiptree did close the gap again, Thaxted scored their fourth and the game was won.

Danbury Juniors U-12 3 Thaxted Rangers 0

Thaxted lost this League Cup match in what was a closer game than the final score suggested.

Danbury went in 1-0 up at half-time with a goal that took a deflection.

They added two more in the second half as Thaxted pushed further forward. James Richardson had an outstanding game for Thaxted as sweeper, but ultimately Danbury deserved their win.

N.S.T. U-10 2 Saffron Walden B 4

Walden took the victory away at NST at the weekend.

The game had barely begun before NST opened the scoring. Both sides took plenty of shots but at half-time the score remained 1-0.

As the second half kicked off George Templeman broke through to even the score, then aided by a pass from Ollie Jones, Templeman scored his second.

NST fought back to again even the score, but Charlie Mosley took the ball from the half-way line straight into the back of the net.

Mosley then assisted Templeman to score his third with only minutes to spare.

Saffron Walden Town U-16 0 Bluntisham Rangers B 2

An inconsistent performance by the Walden boys against a Bluntisham side who's confidence grew steadily through the match meant there was only one result likely from this mid-table tussle.

Walden started positively with Luke Bunting narrowly missing a scoring chance almost from the off but the visitors built up their game over the next 30 minutes, defending well and regularly testing keeper Jay Pledger.

The pressure had to pay off, which it did with just four minutes to the whistle when the visitors pulled one ahead.

A similar story in the second half, with Bluntisham finding the net again after just 10 minutes and applying steady pressure.

Some great defensive work again from Jimmy Hall and Lawrence Williams prevented further damage, enabling Walden to restrict the visitors.

Buckden Juniors B U-11 0 Saffron Walden 13

Saffron Walden eased through to the third round of the League Cup against a courageous Buckden.

The opening encounters were a close affair, but Daniel Page grabbed a first-half brace to make the visitors intentions clear.

Oliver Lewis struck a fine shot from outside the box for his first of the season before Andrew Reynolds made it four.

The second half was one-way traffic, with Harry Clark, Charlie Pitt and Daniel Page claiming three goals in the first three minutes of the second half.

Pitt made it eight before Daniel Murphy-Moore bagged a brace.

Page scored his fourth, followed by goals from Liam Coles and Alex Hancock to wrap up the scoring.

Mark Hall U-8 7 Elsenham 1

Elsenham's Albert Greenhalgh scored the first goal any side has managed against Mark Hall this season, though the league's strongest side still ran out comfortable winners on Sunday.

After a bright start from the visitors, Mark Hall showed just why they are the team to be feared in this league, knocking in four without reply by half-time.

Shortly after the restart, Greenhalgh made his mark, confidently stroking the ball through after being sent through by Owen Palmer's pass.

Mark Hall were able to find the net three more times before the end of the game to seal the victory.

Harlow Town Reds U-9 3 Elsenham 0

Elsenham fought valiantly, but again got no reward for their efforts against Harlow Town Reds on Sunday.

With Joshua Forsyth and Luke Taylor both making their debuts, the Greens held their own in the early stages, but a goal from Harlow sent them in behind at the break.

Elsenham stepped up the pressure in the second half and had several shots on goal in the search for an equaliser. Instead, a momentary lapse in Elsenham's defence allowed the Reds to double their advantage.

Despite more attacks from the visiting team, Harlow were able to maintain their clean sheet and added one more goal before the end to make sure of the victory.

Elsenham U-10 2 Aztecs A 0

Goals from James Yeadon and Bertie Alabaster gave Elsenham their first league win of the season against Aztecs A at the Recreation Ground.

The first half was even and despite chances at both ends, the teams went into the interval without a breakthrough.

After changing every player bar keeper Dan Keating at half-time, Elsenham looked just as good in the second period with a little bit more creativity and passing.

Yeadon opened the scoring, slamming the ball into the net after a cross from Alabaster.

Alabaster scored the second after racing from the half-way line and shooting left footed into the corner of the net.

Elsenham U-11 10 Fairlands Youth Whites 0

Elsenham put in a great performance putting 10 goals past Fairlands Whites.

The hosts started well and took the lead through Lewis Clive.

Brad Baker then added two more in quick succession and Kieran Andrews and Matt Maynard made it five before the break.

Just before half-time keeper George Belton pulled off a great penalty save to maintain the advantage.

Elsenham dominated the second half and Brandon extended their lead. Brad then completed a well deserved hat-trick before a lovely lay off from Lewis saw Ollie slot home.

Brad claimed a fourth and the rout was finished by a good individual effort from Michael.

Fairlands Youth Blues U-14 2 Elsenham 0

After more than a month of waiting, Elsenham finally got their league campaign under way, but it was a disappointing start as the Greens fell to defeat in a tightly fought contest at Barclay School.

The visitors made the worst possible start by conceding a free-kick in the opening minute, from which they failed to clear the ball properly, allowing the Fairlands player to knock the ball over keeper Jon Booth for the first goal.

The game ebbed and flowed for the next 15 minutes, but it was Fairlands who doubled their lead when a corner was only partially cleared, allowing the home player to crack a volley into the net.

Finally, Elsenham started to get their act together and Mason Duckett collected the ball on the left and swung in a cross, which eluded everyone and went straight into the far corner of the goal, but controversially, the goal was ruled out for offside.

The second-half proved to be even closer fought than the first, and Clayden twice went close from free kicks, but Fairlands held on fairly comfortably for the win.

Plantation Youth U-10 0 Great Bardfield Muddogs 2

The Muddogs came out on top in their battle against local rivals Plantation at the weekend.

Bardfield started brightly and Mercer brought a good save from the Plantation keeper while at the other end, keeper Robinson handled outside the area and from the resulting free-kick made a good save just before the break.

Muddogs continued to probe away at Plantation and the pressure finally took its toll on the hosts and from a Mercer corner the ball found Major who turned, drew the ball back to himself and tucked it through the keeper's legs.

The visitors doubled their lead after another Mercer corner found Major who from outside the area had a cracking shot which came down off the underside of the bar for Fairhurst to pop home the second.

The second half bought an identical period of concerted pressure from the Muddogs, but the home keeper stood firm and made some excellent saves from Mercer and Fairhurst.

Whittlesford Warriors U-11 7 Hundon Hawks 0

Three goals in the first three minutes got Whittlesford off to a storming start in their rescheduled match against Hundon.

Whittlesford got off the mark with a deflected early corner from Joe Tofts, rapidly followed by strikes from Ollie Fountain and Sam Harrup.

Shell shocked Hundon couldn't hold the marauding Whittlesford strike force and by half-time they had conceded eight goals with Joey Lindsall and a further four from Ollie Fountain.

In the second half a rejuvenated Hundon defence held back Whittlesford for first 15 minutes until further goals from Joey Lindsall and a sixth and seventh from Ollie Fountain sealed an emphatic victory.

Plantation Youth A U-9 1 Sawston United Youth 2

A goal apiece for Liam Moir and Oliver Flack helped Sawston United Youth to a 2-1 victory over Plantation Youth A. Freddie Found replied for Plantation.

Bluntisham Rangers U-12 2 Sawston United Youth 7

Four goals from Ryan Bass, two from Ben Lockhart and one from Chris Dix earned Sawston United a great victory against Bluntisham.

George Davis scored early on for Bluntisham and then Matt Banks scored a great individual goal near the end.
