Thaxted Rangers 3 Melbourn 2

Thaxted Rangers came from behind to defeat Melbourn on Saturday in the BIS League Division 2A.

Thaxted started off well hitting both the post and crossbar, but it was the visitors who took the lead when a defensive mix-up allowed a Melbourn striker to race clear and bury the ball into the bottom left hand corner.

On the stroke of half-time Melbourn extended their lead whilst the Thaxted players were appealing for offside.

The second half saw Thaxted come out fired up and their pressure finally paid off when a cross from the right saw Martin Parkinson driving into the box with a bullet header to bring the home side right back into it.

Thaxted laid siege to the visitors' goal, but it took Matt Anthony's seventh goal in five games to bring the home side level.

Thaxted pressed for the winner and with fives minutes to go Martin Parkinson bundled the ball home and the comeback was complete.

Thaxted now move up to sixth in the table, their highest position in over a year.
