Thaxted's Creek Cup run came to an end under the floodlights at a chilly Somersham on Sunday.
Somersham were quick out of the blocks and went in front after 10 minutes and though the visitors survived a few more scares, they soon began to work their way back into the match.
Their efforts were rewarded with a goal for Steve Morris after good play down the left from Liam Palmer and the teams went in level at half-time.
Thaxted started the second half brighter, but it was Somersham who regained the lead with what proved to be the winning goal.
Much of the remainder of the game saw Thaxted pushing forward, but they couldn't make the breakthrough and exited the competition.
