TAKELEY took a huge step towards securing promotion into the Isthmian League South with a commanding 5-2 win away from against Great Wakering Rovers.

The result means Takeley climb above Great Wakering into second-position of the Essex Senior League, with two games in hand.

Despite the result, Steve Castle’s men trail first-placed Burnham Ramblers by eight points, with both teams having five games to play until the end of the season.

They will also have to be wary of fourth-placed Barkingside, who trail Takeley by nine points with three games in hand.
