Takeley travel to London Bari on Saturday looking to get back to winning ways following back-to-back home league defeats.

Duncan Easley’s men went down 2-0 to Barking in the Essex Senior League Premier Division on Tuesday with Wale Odedoyin and Luke Foster netting for the visitors.

That result followed Takeley’s 4-3 derby disappointment against Stansted on Saturday at Station Road.

The game started brightly with both sides going for it.

In the third minute a ball down the Stansted right was picked up by a Takeley winger, who ran into the box only to be brought down.

The referee blew for a penalty which Ryan Lockett converted, to give Takeley an early lead.

However, just before the half-hour mark Stansted’s Sam Ashford whipped a corner in only for keeper Josh Knight to make an error which resulted in Jack Friend heading into his own net.

Takeley then conceded a free-kick 35 yards out, Jack Isherwood floated the kick into the Takeley box only for Matt Gill to also nod into his own net giving Stansted a 2-1 half-time lead.

After the break Stansted keeper Reece Payne made a good save, but the ball dropped to Carl Edwards who levelled.

The goals kept coming and in the 51st minute Takeley gave away a free-kick in a dangerous position.

Sam Ashford’s effort was saved by Knight, however Isherwood slotted in the loose ball.

The home side pushed for another equaliser and it came with three minutes to go as Glenn O’Hanlon fired in from 18 yards to make it 3-3.

However, straight from the re-start Oliver Fortune crossed the ball into the Takeley box, Ashford headed towards goal only for Knight to push the ball into Stansted’s onrushing Tom Le Masurier who converted to make the final score 4-3 to Stansted.
