Great Dunmow Netball Club is reflecting on a successful first year since being founded and looking to grow further this year.

The club’s first 12 months saw it have a team play in its first winter season in the Chelmsford League as Dunmow Phoenix.

The club, which now has 21 players that train every Wednesday at 7.30pm at Helena Romanes School school in the town, is now trying to gain a league place for a second team, Dunmow Dragons.

Players will have a new kit to play in this winter and have thanked S J Wright plumbing and heating, the district council’s new homes bonus scheme and Dunmow round table for making that possible.

Club co-founder Tracey Davis, said: “We have a fantastic bunch of girls and have fun on and off the court.

“We have enrolled for a netball tournament fun day in Sudbury in couple of weeks time and a netball tournament weekend in September.

“The club can also boast in its first year two baby girls and one more baby due any day.

“As a team and club we have all come on leaps and bounds in the first year through hard work, training and determination.

“I am very proud to be part of this club and feel lucky to have such a great bunch of team-mates and friends.”
