ONLY a few weeks of being promoted to the Blue Square Premier League for next season, Braintree Town manager Rod Stringer has resigned.

The search for a new manager is already underway but the club and Springer are understood to have parted company after a disagreement over club finances.

A statement from Braintree Town said: “It is with regret that we have to announce that we have not been able to reach an agreement with Rod Stringer for him to continue as manager at the club for next season.

“As a result, Rod has stepped down from his role with the club. The club would like to take this opportunity to thank Rod, Keith and Bobby for all their hard work over the past twelve months.

“The club will now start the process of seeking applications for a new manager with immediate effect.”

The news comes only a matter of weeks after promotion from the Blue Square South League was confirmed after town had amassed 89 points this season.

Club chairman Lee Harding is disappointed and added: “It’s a sad day for the club, because what we all achieved together last season was remarkable. I’d like to thank Rod, Keith and Bobby for all their hard work and we wish them well for the future.”
