Dunmow CC seconds concluded the season that has seen them relegated from the Herts and Essex League Division two with a convincing victory over Thorley.

Thorley opted to bat first and

were soon in trouble when

opening bowlers Jan Gilbert and Alan Way both claimed wickets in their opening spells.

With wickets falling regularly M Dellow and W Eldred came together and put on 70 for the fifth wicket. Steve Hamlin broke the pair up and then Simon Illiffe cleaned up the

tail with 3-8 to leave Thorley all out

on 166.

In reply, Dunmow put together an excellent team batting performance with all the batsmen contributing.

Simon Illiffe and Mark Barnes put on 57 for the first wicket and

from that point the victory never looked in doubt as skipper Dave Gypps accelerated the run rate with a

brisk 42.

This left Aussie Cameron Langford and Josh Rix to see the side home with 11 overs to spare and record an excellent victory.

l Chesterfords suffered a disappointing defeat at High Beach in the Herts and Essex League Division Two on Saturday, meaning they finish the season in fourth place.

High Beach made 241-9, but in reply, Chesterfords were skittled out for just 143 runs.
