A Poor batting display from Chesterfords saw them slump to a defeat at Langley in the Herts & Essex League Division Two.

Winning the toss, Chesterfords captain Wazz Mughal put the home team into bat.

Chesterfords started well, with opening bowlers James Pullen (0-17 in 10 overs) and Mughal himself (0-34 in 6 overs) applied early pressure keeping runs to a minimum.

Adam Miles (1-34 in 10 overs) and Walter Jackson (1-54 in 10 overs) continued in the same manner. David Perring was the outstanding bowler of the day taking 4-48 off his nine overs.

Some sloppy fielding and missed catches together with some good batting by the Langley batsmen allowed the score to creep up to a respectable 199-6

In reply Chesterfords got off to the worst possible start, losing David Lightning, Paul Phillips, James Pullen and David Perring for the addition of only eight runs.

Only Wazz Mughal (23) and Greg Watson (22) broke into double figures as Langley destroyed the Chesterfords batting line-up reducing them to 75 all out.

- On Sunday Chesterfords competed for their first piece of silverware - the Alan Kemp Trophy.

This match was dedicated to the long serving victor who sadly will be retiring and leaving the village this year and it brought over 100 people down to the cricket field where they saw an Alan Kemp XI take on Chesterfords in a 20 20 match.

Chesterfords batted first and got off to a good start with openers Jamie Perring (26 no) and Liam Woodcock (17) putting on a 50 partnership.

Father and son Pat and Brad McHugh then turned the game on its head with some great bowling. From a commanding position after 10 overs Chesterfords had a major collapse and were eventually all out for 95 in the 18 over.

Hayden McClaren and James Eggalton started well finding the boundary with ease for the Alan Kemp XI. Walter Jackson then took two quick wickets, but Will McClaren (26 no) and Brad Mchugh (18) put the game beyond doubt as their side took the victory with four overs to spare.
