It was another busy weekend for Walden Tri athletes competing in different races across the region.

David Peasgood had every reason to feel let down on Sunday. Attempting his first Olympic triathlon event in the beautiful surrounds of Whitlingham Country Park, Norwich, he not only suffered a puncture en route to the venue, but after a good swimming section he was almost flying on the bike when he hit a pothole in the road at speed and punctured both tyres, ending his race.

However, David's team mate, Al Budginer, also in his first race at the Olympic distance, gave an outstanding performance completing all three disciplines in a total time of 2hrs 31mins to finish in 68th position.

Meanwhile, over at the Bedford Sprint triathlon, John Tweedale completed his race in 1hr 29 mins finishing 29th out of 137 competitors

Not to be outdone, four members of the Walden Tri club took part in the challenging CycloSportive pre Tour de France ride. This unique event in the Cyclosportive season, follows the route of stage one of the Tour de France on its historic UK Grand Depart.

The event features 5000 riders on an epic 120-mile journey from Greenwich out of London and through the Kent countryside to finish in Canterbury, in the shadow of the city's ancient cathedral

The four Walden Tri athletes, Helen Francis, Charles Dale, Greg Lewis and Paul Bullen-Smith all completed the ride safely, finishing after seven to eight hours in the saddle.
