THIS was a poor game that saw Dunmow unfortunate to come out the losers, but with the three points White Hart were promoted after finishing in second place.

Following two games where Dunmow conceded very early it was a relief for the management to get past the first 10 minutes without any goals being conceded on Saturday.

A strong wind meant that both sides found it difficult to control the ball and the game was littered with misplaced passes and both sides struggled to create any clear cut chances.

With 20 minutes gone White Hart managed to force a corner which was converted at the near post with Dunmow’s keeper Matthew Boreham crashing into the post in his effort to save the goal, nearly knocking himself out in the process.

Dunmow pushed hard for the equaliser and good work down the left wing from Darryl Savage saw a good pass into the White Hart 18-yard box forcing a defender to foul Dunmow striker Andy Harvey and a penalty was awarded.

Dunmow’s inability to score from the spot saw the fourth penalty in a row missed by for different players. This week Tom Aldridge crashed the ball against the under side of the cross bar, the ball fell invitingly to Ian Hicks who was unable to convert the rebound.

Next: Dunmow’s final game of the season away at St Clere’s on Saturday. Kick off 2pm.
