The Meadows members of Gosfield Lake Golf Club selected a strong team to play Elsenham in what is traditionally a close match.
The result looked good for Gosfield from the start with a number of pairs getting one or two holes to the good in this better ball match after nine holes. Despite some resistance in a number of games the match was finally decided 6½ to 1½ in Gosfield’s favour.
Earlier in the week, the Meadows team took on the Little Channels (Regiment Way) senior section at Little Channels and after some very close games the match ended in an honourable draw.
The Meadows nine hole course hosts a number of inter-club matches throughout the year and after three matches this season the Meadows team remains unbeaten.
The team pairings against Elsenham were: Geoff Powdrill & Georgina Penketh; Malachy Shields & James Robinson; Chris Wilks-Wiffen & Richard Maynard
Andy Smith & John Oliver; Chris Potter & Steve Cattermole; Peter Beeching & Ivan Mills; Tony Day & Rob Brudenell; and Richard Grainger & Carole Robinson.
