The biennial marathon from Cold Christmas near Ware to Good Easter attracted 97 runners, including 14 from Grange Farm and Dunmow Runners (GFDR).

The 26.2 mile route, mainly off-road, was particularly challenging following the heavy rain.

The race, organised by Springfield Striders, was won by Alex Brooks of Serpentine Running Club in 3hrs 18mins.

Steve Read, finishing in 4hrs 29mins, was fastest for GFDR. Ian Lawson (4hrs 44mins) was just ahead of Ashwin Shah (4hrs 45mins).

Hayley and John Smith finished in 5hrs 4mins, followed by Rob Kings (5hrs 17mins), Jane Smith and Andy Stevenson (5hrs 23mins), Jo Bisset-Smith (5hrs 33 mins), Nick Perry (5hrs 46mins) and Peter Inman (6hrs 3mins). Jackie Adams and Lee Prowse finished together in 6hrs 42mins, with Simon Woolley withdrawing injured after 18 miles.
