Dunmow United Pumas 5 Danbury Juniors 7

The Pumas lost their 100 per cent league record whilst Danbury retained theirs in a terrific top of the table clash at Laundry Lane.

Dunmow, despite missing an early penalty, raced into a two-goal lead courtesy of Ben Clarke and Louis Claridge before the visitors hit back to level before half-time.

A pulsating opening to the second period saw Danbury edge in front straight from the kick-off only for Charlie Law to fire a scorching equaliser a minute later.

The guests though capitalised on some hesitancy in the home defence to regain the lead before an impressive spell of play saw them add further goals to take a 7-3 lead before United’s man-of-the-match, George Coates hit back with two outstanding strikes.

Broomfield Fire 3 Dunmow United Pythons 3

Dunmow put in a brave performance against a team who beat them recently in a cup game.

They went 2-0 down in the first half, despite having most of the early chances.

But the second half display was fantastic with Texter Christian-Terry showing good composure in midfield.

Playing uphill, the team showed strength and spirit to pull a goal back with a great strike from Will Hammill. Broomfield immediately went 3-1 up, but Dunmow kept going.

Man-of-the-match Ethan Sandlin was unplayable up front, scoring from a Hammill cross, then chasing down a loose ball to fire in from an acute angle.

Writtle Minors 2 Dunmow Rhodes Lions 1

League Cup, Group A

Dunmow Rhodes Lions travelled to a windy Writtle Minors on Sunday for a league cup clash and lost 2-1 in a good even contest.

Writtle took the lead inside 10 minutesn after a break through the Dunmow Rhodes defence and a shot that gave keeper Luke Johnson no chance.

Straight from the kick-off Christian Roles pulled a goal back for Dunmow Rhodes.

Both goal keepers were kept busy, pulling off some good saves, but Writtle went ahead on 27 minutes after an excellent strike from distance found the back of the net.

No further goals came in the second half. Oscar Turner came closest to drawing Dunmow level with the last kick of the game, but his shot from outside the penalty area hit the crossbar.
