A six month round-the-world trip has obviously been just the tonic for Amy Huson who scored the opening two goals for Saffron Walden Hockey Club seconds in their pre-season friendly at Stevenage thirds on Saturday.
Walden played some superb flowing hockey with many of the juniors including Clair Pearce and Lorna Charge making the transition easily into the ladies teams.
Stevenage clawed a goal back against the run of play, but further goals from Sophie Thomas from a short corner and debutant Tilly Slevin after a fine run from Zoe
Bull, gave Walden a convincing half-time lead.
After the break, captain Lindsay Wilson switched the formation around with Suzanne Holmes pushing further forward and Mollie Brookes moving to left back. Despite a series of short corners and long periods of possession, Walden could only manage one further goal from winger Kate O'Sullivan after good work from Marlie Buckridge.
