TWO Debbie Pitfield goals helped Walden gain a share of the points,

West Herts started well, converting two good early goals in the first half.

Walden fought back, and after the break some good play by Jess Cowley and Sophie Green on the right saw the latter pass to Pitfield, who broke through the defence to fire home.

Some good work by the defence kept the visitors out, before Pitfield struck again to seal the draw.

A GOAL in each half kept Walden second in the table as they returned from Harpenden with the Five Counties League points.

In their first game after the Christmas break Walden looked a little rusty in the opening half as passes went astray and there were several near misses before Lauren Chandler opened the scoring after good approach work from Charlotte Huson and Bethan Waters.

In the second half Walden had the majority of the possession and Sally Kirk created many opportunities but the dominance was only rewarded late in the game with a well-taken shot from Zoe Bull.

WALDEN visited Chelmer Park on Sunday and came out on top following a thrilling game against Chelmsford.

Having won the toss and elected for the push back, Walden were a goal down in the first 30 seconds.

But they fought back to equalise in the third minute with a goal by Andrew Boyd.

Boyd went on to fire in a fierce shot to give Walden the lead. However the half finished level when the Chelmsford's winger struck an unstoppable reverse stick shot.

A change of tactics at half-time brought Matt Chandler into the game more and with his exceptional turn of pace he started to open up the Chelmsford defence. It was from one of the penetrating bursts of speed that the ball was crossed in for Michael Wood to finish with a simple tap in.

Chelmsford fought back and equalised again and nearly took the lead had it not been for Fred Whitfield, who saved a fiercely struck penalty corner low too his right.

It was Boyd who got the last goal of the game and his hat-trick, sealing the win for his side. This was a highly entertaining game for the small crowd who had assembled to watch and Walden proved to be the more resilient team to achieve the victory.
