After last week’s resounding defeat High Roding 1st XI travelled to their old friends and rivals Hatfield Peverel on Saturday.
Batting first Peverel made 186-6 off their 45 overs with Hills top scoring with 47, assisted by Moore 23, M Castledine 21, M Wild 29 and Symonds 22.
An unlikely star of Rodings bowling was Matt Hammond who took 4-29 off 10 overs.
It was left to the Roding batsmen to score 187 for victory.
Adam Holdgate scored 30, Matt Hammond 28, Ryan Palmer 26 and Jeff Clarke 23 as Roding fell short with Mark Gallop 13 not out when the last wicket fell for 175.
