HIGH Roding Cricket Club picked up their first victory of the season on Saturday at Stock.

The Mid-Essex League Premier Division match was restricted to 43 overs due to the damp conditions, with Roding coming out on top.

Stock batted first and made 182-8 with Goddard scoring 32, Westwood 28, Johnson 37 and Wooler 31.

It was an excellent bowing and fielding display by Roding with Craig Miller taking 3-46, Mark Gallop 3-41, Travis Hussain 1-44 and Jeff Clarke bowling a great spell with 1-39.

Roding in reply were indebted to Clarke once again with a magnificent hit of 60.

Travis Hussain hit 41 and Orban Holdgate made 26 as Roding finished their innings on 185-8 to gain their first victory of the campaign.

On Saturday High Roding entertain Little Baddow at The Meadow, 1.30pm start.

- High Roding seconds also picked up their first victory of the season on Saturday against Thorley in the Herts & Essex League Division Two.

With the game also restricted to 43 overs, Roding batted first and finished on 178 all out.

This did not appear at one stage to be enough, but fine bowling by Jordan Baker with 2-2, and Baz Sewell saw Thorley ending their innings on 170 all out.

- High Roding thirds put in a battling performance but were defeated by Little Bardfield.
