Aythorpe batting first, found themselves in trouble at 75-5, with only Paul Gravatt (10) and Graham Milbank (3), reaching double figures from the top five batsmen.

However, Andy Clarke (35) and Mark Culleton (61), pulled things round for the visitors, putting on 102 runs for a great sixth wicket partnership in 20 overs.

Dave Anderson contributed with 17, as Aythorpe reached 202-9 in 45 overs.

Matt Everett 4-35 in nine overs, M Gallop 2-44 in 12 overs, Jeff Clarke 2-45in 10 overs and Travis Hussain 1-44 in 12 overs took the wickets for the hosts.

Travis Hussain (20) and Anthony Tredgett (72), got High Roding off to a good start, before Aythorpe took several quick wickets.

However, Mel Hussain (18), Allan Farlie-Clarke (20) and Adam Holdgate (24 no), saw High Roding home in the 44th over, reaching 206-7.

Joe Grant took 3-54 in 11.4 overs, Neil Culleton 2-60 in nine overs while Andy Clarke and Graham Milbank took a wicket apiece for Aythorpe.

Aythorpe travel to Springfield on Saturday, 1.30pm start, while High Roding visit Hatfield Peverel.

There is no stopping Aythorpe Roding seconds in their march for promotion in the Mid-Essex League Division 10 as they took another victory at the weekend, this time third placed South Woodham Ferrers thirds were the victims.

Stand in skipper Sean Darby won the toss and elected to field, but with Ferrers at 145-3 this looked the wrong decision.

However, Hibber (51), Permanand (10), J Easen (25) and A Snelling (71), put runs on the board, before Darby took control with his bowling, claiming 6-34 in 9.5 overs, having good support from Matt Reeve 1-28 in 10 overs, Graham Reeve 2-40 in 10 overs and Kevin Hockley 1-4, as the visitors were all out for 196 in 45.5 overs.

Matt Reeve (17) and Lewis Reynolds (19), gave Aythorpe a good start, but it was Sean Darby (92 no) and Andy Chambers (56), who put Aythorpe on course with a 114 run partnership in 19 overs, with Roding closing on 200-3 in 38.5 overs.

Aythorpe Roding seconds entertain Hockley thirds on Saturday,

1.30pm start.

High Roding seconds secured a win at Ashdon on Saturday in the Herts & Essex League Division Three.

Ashdon batted first and scored a highly commendable 230-5. Will Mallett (76), Jamie Millership (44) and Andy Pinnington (36 no) were the pick of the hosts' batsmen.

Joel Tadman took 32-2, and Mike Richardson 27-1, for High Roding.

Roding went about chasing the fairly big target with great aplomb and managed to reach their target with eight balls to spare.

Ben Tadman (25), Orban Holdgate (28), Richard Linney (50), Henry Hebron (27), Paul Welland (32), and Baz Sewell (24 no) were on form with the bat for the visitors.

The seconds host Much Hadham this Saturday.
