Takeley thumped FC Romania 8-0 on Tuesday night to book their place in the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy semi-finals.
Seven second half goals, following a fairly even opening 45 minutes, sent Duncan Easley’s men into the last four of the competition where they travel to Barking.
Skipper Alex Martin hit a hat-trick in the clash as did Andy Reed, while James Mayes and Lewis Endacott also got on the scoresheet. FC Romania had a man sent off for collecting two yellow cards in the second half.
The Station Road side seem to enjoy hosting FC Romania; at the start of March they also claimed a 6-0 Essex Senior League win over them.
Going into the match Easley’s men had been in a rich vein of form unbeaten in eight Essex Senior League Premier Division games, including a 2-0 victory over Sawbridgeworth Town on Saturday.
