On Saturday 120 members of Saffron Walden Golf Club and 12 visiting teams from clubs in East Anglia played in the Walden Charity Golf Day.
The Walden Charity Trophy Committee have been running such events for many years with the proceeds going to local charities. For this year Marie Curie Cancer Care, Saffron Walden Talking Newspapers and Wheel Power were chosen.
The visiting teams compete for the Walden Trophy while the members compete for the Alan Southall Shield.
The Walden Trophy winners were Boyce Hill Golf Club with a combined pairs 4BBB score of 85 points, the Gog Magog Golf Club in second place with a score of 82 points and Ely Golf Club one further point back in third place.
Sammy Lau, Adam Cairns, James and Stewart Hall won the Alan Southall Shield with a total points haul of 119 from the best three scores on each hole followed by Brian Pegg, Gavin Greenaway, Charlie and Keith Nicholas in second.
