RAYNE COCK are planning to make the Ridley League Finals Night a hen party. Their unbeaten dartsmen have turned the league's North Section into a victory march; now their girls will be vying for trophy time at Chelmsford Social Club on July 17.

Kim Gardiner dominated last week's shootout at Felsted Chequers, eliminating the normally dangerous Marion Wiley to earn a singles final place against three-times champion Yvonne Hall-Wilson (Chelmsford Social). And the two finalists face another showdown in the pairs.

Gardiner and Mary Sainsbury swept aside Rose Mallord and Chris Ewers (White Horse) in straight legs, while Hall-Wilson and Vanessa Grimsey were also 2-0 winners against the Black Bull's Carol Hughes and Maryann Kenna.

Wiley gained some consolation as partner Caroline Kochan hit the match-winning doubles to secure the south section women's league play-off, to make it a double blank for Ewers and Mallord.

Martin Crisp and Kevin Tutton (Social Club) took the dominoes pairs title, beating John Steele and Basil Chapman (Black Bull) after opening the first leg with a stunning four eights in the first hand. But the singles was unfinished.

Alan Bell (Retreat), a weary winner five months ago of the longest match in the competition's history, was involved in another marathon, against Glyn Bridges (Black Bull). The final, against Shane Kochan (Cricketers Mill Green) was postponed until play-off night - July 10 at the Flitch

Snooker Club.
