Saffron Walden CC remain top of the Shepherd Neame Essex League Premier Division after their game at second placed Ardleigh Green was cancelled on Saturday due to heavy rain.
Captain Joe Holland was not too upset his side didn't get a run out.
"We want to play as much as possible, but on reflection, it worked out ok for us," he said.
"We are still top and it was handy that it was rained off against the second placed side rather than a bottom of the table team at home."
Walden will be looking to see some action this weekend when they host second from bottom Wickford in the league on Saturday.
"We had a tough game last year against them away and only managed a narrow win," said Holland. "They are not a bad side and we are not going to take them lightly, but I'm confident we can get the right result."
Walden will make only one change to the side that was due to play last Saturday.
"Giles Ecclestone won't play on Saturday as he is in the Sunday squad and can only play one game a week," said the skipper. "He will be replaced by Adam Wheeter, who is a very good replacement."
On Sunday, Walden visit Old Mid Whitgiftians from the Surrey Championship Division One in the Evening Standard Challenge Trophy Round Three.
The captain is hopeful they can finally complete the game and is fully aware of its importance to the club.
"It will be nice to get it played and hopefully the rains hold off," he said. "It's a tournament we take very seriously as it's a prestigious cup with a lot of prize money and the final is at the Oval.
"I don't know much about them, but they are going to be a good side. However, I'm confident we can get a result against anyone.
