Barnston 3 Writtle 1

Top scorer Graeme Turner hit a brace as Barnston got back to winning ways against Writtle on Saturday in the Essex Olympian League Division Three.

Barnston started strongly and the striker put them in front when Luke Farrow's pass set him free down the right and his powerful run and shot beat the Writtle keeper.

Although having a good share of the play, the Barnston defence allowed Writtle a chance which they took to

level the scores on the stroke of half-time.

The hosts came out for the second half in determined fashion and a second goal from Graeme Turner put the home side back in front.

However, they had to wait until the closing of the game when Paul Layzell scored to put the game beyond the visitors' reach.

On Saturday Barnston visit Basildon Town, 2.30 kick-off for their final game of the season.
