Dunmow Rhodes Tigers 2 Notley Youth 0
A GREAT game of football between two of the best teams in the Blackwater league ended with a Tigers victory.
Both teams had several efforts on goal but went in to the break at 0-0.
Dunmow started the second half strongly and took a deserved lead through Joshua Valks who kept his nerve to slot past the Notley keeper after a good cross from Miles Thorpe.
They kept the momentum up and added to their goal tally when Valks turned provider for Thorpe who hit a powerful drive into the bottom corner.
It rounded off a superb all round team performance by the Tigers.
Braintree Town Yellows 0 Flitch Youth Blues 2
IN this top of the table clash Flitch overcame a sluggish start to extend their lead at the top of the Spring League with a routine win over Braintree Town.
George Gilbert, Sam Barnes and Jacob Morgan all went close before Gilbert opened the scoring with a bobbling, deflected effort that found its way into the net after some sustained Flitch pressure.
Morgan soon made it 2-0 with his 11th goal of the season following a solo run and calm finish.
A number of positional changes at half time disrupted Flitch’s flow, and James Mitchell became the busier of the two keepers and needed to ne at his best to deny Braintree.
Flitch continued to create chances of their own, with Kasib Chowbury, Harry Bowley and Aaron Robertson all going close.
Barnston AFC 2 Woodham Warriors 1
BARNSTON and Woodham both put in committed performances in an entertaining encounter.
Both sides went close early on before Tommy Barrington crashed home the opening goal with a free-kick from just inside the away team’s half.
Jonah Carter put Barnston 2-0 in front with a skilful overhead kick.
Barnston keeper Harry Price was forced to make an outstanding save before the half was out.
After the break Woodham crashed an effort against the bar and two minutes later were rewarded with a goal, a fine shot finding the corner of the net from just outside Barnston’s penalty area.
No further goals came as the Barnston secured a fine victory.
Lower Street Colts 2 Romford Royals 4
LOWER Street took an early lead in their last league game of the season against Romford Royals.
A through ball by Rian Budden led to Harry Tassel scoring in the top left hand corner.
An own goal and a set piece goal Royals finish the half 2-1 in front. An early goal by the visitors in the second half led to a quick response by Lower Street. Rian Budden’s accurate pass was picked up by Tassel who calmly lobbed the goalkeeper. A late goal by Royals ended the scoring.
