AFTER 12 years of playing and managing Dunmow FC Mark Seton has decided to step down and hand over the reigns to club secretary Mick Miller on a permanent basis.

His last game of the season was a dismal defeat as the visitors struggled to put a side together due to injuries and absence but Seton can still look bad with fond memories.

Speaking after playing the entire game, he said: “I’m stepping down now and the current club Secretary, Mick Miller, will be taking over the running of the side. He has already been doing 75 per cent of it this season.”

Dunmow’s bid for players was so desperate that Darryl Savage travelled up from Southampton to play – he ended up opening the scoring after 20 minutes with a crisp volley.

However third place Clere hit back as Dunmow struggled without a specialist goalkeeper and the scores were level at half time.

Playing up the hill proved too difficult for the visitors in the second period though as despite a superb chipped effort from Savage they fell away in the last quarter.

Seton added: “So ends another season of gradual improvements for us. We should look back on the season with some pride, having beaten opposition two divisions higher, reached a cup semi-final and improved our final standing in the division – next season – Promotion.”
