A depleted Takeley side returned from Benfleet with all three points after an impressive performance on Saturday.

The Station Road outfit were missing seven players from the previous two games, but they battled hard to take the victory which puts them top of the Essex Olympian League.

Takeley came flying out of the traps and should have gone in front after 45 seconds when a shot from Kayambe was cleared off the line.

Benfleet came back into the game, but the Takeley back line marshalled by Steffan Szajawski and Mark Watters held firm.

The second half started with Takeley taking the game to Benfleet and after 47 minutes a good run by Steve Robins saw him square the ball to Kayambe who fired home.

This stung Benfleet and they drew level 10 minutes later. Takeley keeper May did well to stop a header, but the rebound fell to a home striker who fired in the equaliser from three yards out.

With Charlie Pollard and Josh Colson starting to run the game, it was Colson who went on a run that took him past three tackles before squaring to Robins who struck a great shot from 18 yards past the keeper to give Takeley the victory.

- Takeley Reserves suffered their first defeat of the season losing 1-0 at home to Mountnessing on Saturday with many players dispersed to the first eleven and away on holiday.
