Saffron Walden Ladies 5 Cambridge Ladies 1

Saffron Walden Ladies sit comfortably at the top of the table after an impressive performance against Cambridge on Saturday.

Walden started strongly and pressured the Cambridge defence but the visitors keeper kept the Walden attack at bay.

The hosts continued to dominate, but couldn't find the breakthrough and the sides were level at half-time.

Walden finally broke the deadlock in the second half when Claire Harrington fired in a skilfully placed goal and they soon doubled their advantage through Angharad Barratt.

Cambridge were not giving up and put pressure on the Walden defence and it paid off with them converting a penalty flick.

Walden turned up the heat once more and captain Nia Evans scored with a strike putting the ball past the keeper's head into the back of the net.

A fantastic solo run from Katherine Langridge soon followed getting past three players and the keeper to score.

Evans sealed the sixth consecutive win with the fifth goal.

Tring Ladies II 1 Saffron Walden II 2

Saffron Walden seconds maintained their 100 per cent league record with a fine victory away at Tring.

Walden had the best of the early play with a fierce shot from Kate O'Sullivan crashing back off the post and the Tring keeper made a fine shot from Lorna Charge's penalty flick.

Mid way through the first half Tilly Sleven came on for Zoe Bull and tapped in and the lead was some doubled with a strike from Suzanne Holmes following a short corner.

After the break Tring improved their passing and eventually pulled a goal back after a breakaway which provided a tense last 10 minutes, but the young Walden team held on for a well deserved win.

Sawtry Ladies 3 Saffron Walden III 0

Saffron Walden thirds were made to pay for missed chances as they returned from Sawtry empty handed on Saturday.

Walden soon put Sawtry's defence under pressure, but they couldn't find the net.

Sawtry scored two goals in the first half, despite Walden having most of the play.

The hosts added to their tally in the second half, and although Walden kept battling, Sawtry held firm.

Dunmow Ladies 3 Havering 1

DUNMOW Ladies came from behind to defeat Havering on Saturday.

Dunmow were kept on their toes right from the start with Havering scoring a goal within the first four minutes.

Despite efforts from Chloe White, Serena Price in midfield, Dunmow were unable to capitalise and even the score.

Dunmow quickened the pace in the second half and were rewarded when Kate Taylor fired in a shot to level the score.

The hosts dominated play and captain Jemmy Smith flicked the ball past the keeper to give her side the lead and they sealed the victory in the closing stages with Charlotte Osborne finding the back of the net.
