A STUDENT has beaten the Essex men’s under-17 high jump record with a jump of 191cm, a centimetre higher than the previous record. Find out who.

FELSTED student Max Paulin, aged just 15, has beaten the Essex men’s under-17 high jump record with a jump of 191cm, a centimetre higher than the previous record.

The promising young athlete broke the record while competing at the Essex County Athletic Association and Eastern Athletic Association track and field championships at Lee Valley Indoor Athletic Centre on March 13.

As well as setting a new record for Essex, which is equivalent of jumping over tennis player Andy Murray, the jump ranks him joint third in the country for this age group and is a new personal best.

“My next goal is to try to improve on that good start and do it to the best of my ability,” he said. “I aim to be jumping more than two metres by the end of the athletics season.”
