LOSING your goalkeeper to a holiday in the Far East is always a tricky business, and so it proved for Dunmow FC last weekend.

Regular keeper Matt Boreham had recently jetted off to Vietnam for a trip of a lifetime so the visitors had to cast around the team for a replacement, with Reece Free stepping bravely into the breach.

Sadly a combination of new keeper and no games for a fortnight were to prove too much for a Dunmow side that has had a patchy start to the season.

The fist half saw them fall behind early on from a corner, however, within 10 minutes the away side were level after a well taken goal for Will Green.

This was as good as it got for Dunmow in the first half. Poor distribution from the back led to Dunmow conceding two silly goals before break.

Dunmow started the second half brightly and reduced the arrears to 3-2 when Oliver Coopersmith beat the Maldon keeper one on one, sending him the wrong way.

Again though, the visitors were unable to capitalise on their upturn in fortune, promptly shipping a further three unanswered goals to lose 6-2.

Next: Dunmow are at home on Saturday to Shelley Royals. Kick off 1.30pm.
