A SHAMBOLIC opening 15 minutes of this fixture ensured Dunmow’s unbeaten run came to an unexpected against the bottom of the league club in sweltering conditions.

The visitors did well to put a respectable gloss on the match having gone 3-0 down after only 15 minutes following some terrible defending.

To compound matters with only 20 minutes gone Dunmow lost stand in captain Will Green to an elbow injury and had to look to veteran and club chairman Mark Seton to steady the ship.

Fortunes began to change after 30 minutes when the ever reliable and top scorer Michael Church finished a good passing move from midfield for his weekly goal and just before half time Dunmow had pulled it back to 3-2 with a goal from Andy Harvey.

The second half commenced poorly again for Dunmow who conceded early to another poor piece of defending, but despite the heat they again fought back and, with 25 minutes to go, a defence-splitting pass from Seton found the hard working Tommy Aldridge timing his run to perfection to slot home.

Dunmow pulled out all the stops and nearly scored again, Ben Jolly coming closest who put just wide after the keeper had fumbled an Aldridge free kick, but it wasn’t to be.
