Local youth football round up
Dunmow United Pythons 2 Torquespeed Youth 0
PYTHONS recorded their seventh win in a row, but it was a real challenge to see off Torquespeed.
The visitors, who had won their previous game 6-0, were strong and well organised.
The first half was tight with few chances, and Dunmow were unable overcome a crowded midfield.
A goal came just before the break with a brilliant individual effort from Harry Simmonds, who rounded the goalie and a defender before slotting in.
The goal settled Dunmow who looked stronger in the second half. A superb second goal made them safe, with a left foot cross from man-of-the-match Simmonds leading to a half-volley finish from Harry Roberts.
Defensively Dunmow were strong throughout, with Ethan Sandlin and Texter Christian-Terry outstanding.
Dunmow Rhodes Lions 2 Maldon Saints Greens 0
DUNMOW Rhodes hosted Maldon at the recreation ground and came away with a well deserved 2-0 victory.
The visitors looked more lively from the kick off giving Rhodes defenders Ted Pearson and JP Alexander plenty of work to do before the home side rallied and made their presence felt.
The first half saw a number of chances going begging for Rhodes, but the Saints defence held firm backed by a great performance from their keeper to maintain a clean sheet at half time.
For the second half Rhodes switched to a 3-5-2 formation and were quickly rewarded when left winger Frank Luckin weaved his way around several players before unleashing a left foot that beat the keeper.
The home side continued to apply pressure and scored their second when Liam Demmon delivered a long throw into the box that Zak Jagathesan swiftly converted. From then on Rhodes looked comfortable with Christian Roles commanding the back three and man-of-the-match Ben Fisher pouncing on any loose ball.
Rhodes still have two games to play this season.
