Dunmow maintained their excellent form with a comprehensive victory which sees them move to within a point of fifth place in Two Counties Division Two.

With a small range of bowling options available, stand-in skipper Luke Swanston still backed those he had and chose to bowl first.

Josh Rix claimed the first scalp when Ryan Clark gloved behind, Joe Gallant taking the catch.

Jon Allen and Steve Graham built a partnership although runs came slowly, and when Matt Gibson had Allen lbw for 12, the score was 36-2 in the 13th over. Inspired captaincy then rang the bowling changes, first introducing Nick Kesingland, and after Rix had claimed two more wickets to finish with 3-43, also bringing on Steve Hamlin.

When Graham played around a straight one to be given lbw the score was 84-5.

Mildenhall then lost their last five wickets for eight runs, the last four for no score as Hamlin claimed 3-5 and Kesingland 3-7.

Dunmow were confident they could get the win, but were not complacent at tea.

Swanston and Tom Pierson-McGeorge got the innings off to a solid start, putting on 38 before Swanston was caught for 16.

Pierson-McGeorge fell for the same score to give Mildenhall their only point of the day before Joe Gallant (24 not out) and Mark Rosewell (16) got Dunmow to within sight.

It fell to Kesingland (nine not out) to complete the victory and move his side within a point of their opponents in the table.
