Dunmow host Mistley this weekend looking to maintain their fine form after another high-quality display to beat Walsham le Willows by 134 runs.

Put into bat, they saw Luke Swanston and Joe Gallant start well against the new ball, punishing anything short.

Gallant was eventually trapped lbw for 74 in the 28th over, with Nick Kesingland (17) and Ollie Rooney (20) giving further support to Swanston, who was out in the final over for a patient 70, after three others failed to trouble the scorers, as Dunmow closed on 207-9.

Dunmow’s bowlers then backed up their batsmen, with Steve Hamlin (8-3-17-3) getting the ball to swing and claiming three wickets.

Matt Gibson consistency was rewarded at the other end as he recorded fine figures of 15-4-29-5, helped by catches from Kesingland, Rooney and Baz Sewell (2-25), who nabbed the last two wickets as Walsham were all out for 73.

Dunmow seconds claimed a good win of their own against Eye & District, after posting 256.

They were slightly worried as 10-man Eye scored 98 from the first 12 overs in reply, but wickets then began to fall and Dunmow kept the pressure on to dismiss their rivals for 175.

*High Roding came out on top in a thoroughly entertaining T-Rippon Mid-Essex League meeting with Woodham Mortimer at The Meadow.

Woodham chose to bat first and, after a slow start, managed to survive two close run out attempts and an appeal for a catch behind to post 204-6 from their 45 overs.

Nad Kumarappereruma (1-26) and Mark Gallop (1-34) had good 10-over spells, as Amit Tulaskar, Angus Burns and Steve Molloy also took a wicket each and Freddie Burns held on to stunning catch after running at least 30 yards to get rid of Woodham’s danger man for 42.

Roding lost Andy Duke for 27, but Steve Molloy was then joined by Ben Gallop, who made 57 before being caught.

Angus Burns help secure an eight-wicket win in the 37th over, as Molloy finished unbeaten on 100 to give Roding a boost ahead of their trip to Terling.

The seconds were not so fortunate as they were dismissed for 129 by Takeley, after they had made 244-6. The host Hockerill this weekend.
