A performance to be forgotten about and moved on from was how skipper Paul Reid described the performance put in by Dunmow on Saturday, as they slumped to their fourth defeat of the season against near rivals in the league Mildenhall 2nds.

Losing the toss and batting, Dunmow lost wickets at regular points throughout their innings.

Only Luke Swanston made a meaningful contribution with 47 before he was the fifth man to fall with the score at 113.

Nick Kesingland (22), James Reyburn (16) and Mark Rosewell (14) made double figures and with the last three batsmen contributing one run between them, the innings was really a sorry affair.

The pick of the Mildenhall bowlers was Matt Heywood who claimed 5-12 from seven overs.

Dunmow needed to claim early wickets if they were to have any chance of defending their small total but poor form with the bat was largely repeated by poor form with the ball, as the hosts achieved their objective in the 25th over.

Ryan Clark (28), Tom Heywood (41) and Steve Graham (36) scored rapidly to provide a comfortable platform, and although Matt Gibson (1-40), Stephen Hamlin (1-34), Reyburn (2-11) and Kesingland (1-11) picked up wickets, the result was never really in doubt.

Dunmow 2nds continued their unbeaten form with a victory over Witham 3rds.

On Saturday the 1sts host Long Melford, while the 2nds have a rest week.
