FELSTED Chequers and Little Waltham SC wrapped up the Ridley League divisional titles last week with ease.

CCFC’s anaemic darts form torpedoed their own faint hope of top spot in the north section table, and the Chequers took full advantage.

The retreat warmed up for the darts cup semi-final with an 11-4 victory over the Black Lion, despite a heroic win by the Lion’s Steve Brown against Andy Camp.

Little Waltham extinguished the Black Bull’s south section challenge, steaming in 12-3 at the New Barn. Full marks to the Bull (11-4 winners against the Swan) for trying, but even with a re-scheduled match to come against the Barn, they can’t catch the champs. A special mention to the Bird in Hand for a late-season rally that suggests the bad old days are over. It took a 160 shot out by Gary Newman (Cricketers) to subdue Hazel Rolfe’s side at Mill Green. The Bird’s last five fixtures produced a win and four 8-7 defeats; not enough to keep them out of the bottom two, but it suggests they’ve shaken off the tag of league whipping boys.
