Dunmow answered the call of skipper Paul Reid to be ruthless with a 9 wicket destruction of Ipswich & East Suffolk.

Winning the toss and choosing to bowl, along with asking Steve Hamlin to open the bowling both proved inspired decisions as he tore into the visitors’ batting line up, claiming six of the first seven batsmen in an accurate and match winning spell of 10-2-40-6, supported by excellent catching from Josh Down, Josh Rix and Joe Gallant.

Regular opening bowler Matt Gibson kept things tight at the other end before claiming his reward by wrapping up the tail and finishing with excellent figures of his own (10.2-3-23-4) including a smart caught and bowled chance, to leave Ipswich & East Suffolk all out for 64 of less than 20 overs.

Dunmow made short work of knocking off the required runs, losing only Down for 17, as fellow opener Luke Swanston (28*) and Ollie Rooney (19*) saw Dunmow to an emphatic win after less than 12 overs, finishing the match at 3.30pm.

Dunmow travel to Ipswich Cricket Club next week.
