Aythorpe Roding continued their climb up the T-Rippon Mid-Essex League Premier Division table with a six-wicket win over Goresbrook.

Graham Milbank (5-14) was in fine form and had support from Jack Stevens (2-31) and Andy Clarke (2-34) as Goresbrook were dismissed for just 115 in 33 overs.

Aythorpe slipped to 27-3 in just eight overs in reply, before Milbank (21) steadied the ship with Joel Barnett in a 62-run stand.

Barnett was the batting hero as he struck seven sixes and four fours to finish unbeaten on 72 from just 54 balls, as Aythorpe got home in the 21st over.

They travel to Rainham this weekend, after both sides were promoted last summer.

*High Roding held off Havering in an exciting Division One contest at The Meadow.

The hosts chose to bat first after winning the toss and saw Andy Duke (29), Steve Molloy (16), Ben Gallop (19) and Mark Gilfrin (25) make decent starts.

The seconds were well beaten by Wormley, who made 275-5 and dismissed Roding for 169.

Nerves were jangling at 127-5, but Gallant (89 not out)saw Dunmow home with seven overs to spare ahead of a trip to Brockley.

The seconds piled up 324-6 to beat Copford by 170 runs to move to the top of the Division Eight table.
